The Three Commandments of the Successful Forex System Trader ~ forex trading jobs in india

0

Very often people will ask me what is needed to achieve some success in automated trading. I get asked if it is actually possible to live "making money while you sleep" and to exploit market inefficiencies as the market changes. Often people I explain my line of work to are extremely skeptical. For example a person I met a few weeks ago at my sisters wedding asked how this was possible and that if this was possible, why isnt everyone making a profit from the forex market. Oh well, it certainly is useful when you talk to people who have absolutely nothing to do with trading - as a matter of fact - I had not found myself in such a difficult position to explain something for quite a bit of time. In the end, I told her that - in analogy with getting to heaven and the ten commandments - people do not succeed with the use of automated trading systems because they do not follow some very simple principles. I explained to her that there are simple rules that need to be followed when you trade these systems and that deviations - even if only small - can end up making a person fail to achieve the ultimate goal of long term profitability in automated trading.

On todays post I want to talk to you about these "three commandments" I explained to her and why each one of these simple rules is absolutely vital to get success in trading, specifically with mechanical trading systems. Of course, some of you may disagree and some of you may agree but in the end these are the rules I have found to work for me and what I believe "raises the bar" so that only a few traders are able to get to this point. Evidently I have not been enjoying this position for decades and therefore I am still tempted and strive to stay with my "three commandments of the mechanical system trader", hopefully following these three seemingly simple - yet very complex rules - will keep me in my way towards a few decades of forex automated trading profitability :o). Do you want to know more about these rules and whether or not they apply to your current situation ? Keep reading to find out !

1. You shall understand what you are doing. Perhaps this eliminates most of the people out there who are currently wanting to become profitable in the long term using these systems. Understanding is a vital part of success and achieving a profitable position in automated trading will simply not be possible - from what I have seen and experienced - if you do not perfectly understand everything you are doing, the systems you are using and how automated trading works. Understanding needs to be deep and should NOT be merely superficial. Understanding should cover deep knowledge about your systems logic, the inefficiency exploited, etc. If you have not gone through at least a few years worth of trades of the system you are trading in a trade by trade basis doing a trade by trade in-depth analysis then you still need to go a long way before you can consider that you truly know what you are trading. In the end, any effort you wont do is an effort somebody else will make and that someone will take your place as a profitable mechanical trader. So if you want to avoid efforts, this is not the place to be.

2. You shall know what to expect. After knowing what you are doing comes to know what you should expect. Traders who are successful using automated trading systems know exactly what to expect from their systems, they know all the characteristics of the systems they trade and precisely what their predicted draw down and profit periods are like. People who understand their automated trading systems and analyze them extensively know the accuracy of their simulations, the length of profit and draw down periods and all other characteristics of systems. Again - as with understanding - we are not talking about a superficial understanding of what to expect. Anything that happens with your system that you do not take into account within your plan will make you unsuccessful so you have to be prepared for every possible case. What if your system reaches a draw down deeper than the simulations ? what if the system has double the number of predicted consecutive loses ? You should know what the meaning of these events are related to your systems performance.

3. You shall evaluate your systems. The last commandment of the successful mechanical trader is to evaluate. You cannot be successful if you trade a system with blind faith - because every system can fail - and continuously evaluating the performance of your trading system and the current market conditions is of incredible importance to achieve success. Knowing when a worst-case scenario will be reached, if the current draw down cycle is too long, if the system is now too risky to be traded, etc is one of the most important aspects of successful mechanical trading.

For people who read this blog who are also Asirikuy members the three above mentioned commandments may have sounded very familiar as I refer to them continuously within the Asirikuy website videos as the Asirikuy mantra : understand, expect and evaluate. From my experience these three simple things are the only actual skills you need to be a successful system trader. You simply need to understand, know what to expect and evaluate performance.

Of course, easier said than done :o) Maybe the first point seems to be the hardest - and it probably is- but the second and third are NOT any easier. Knowing what to expect from a system requires extensive analysis and it requires you to have a very clear understanding about the role and limitations of simulations and the whole way in which the system changes as market conditions start to develop, not to mention a deep understanding of system cycles, their extent and composition. Evaluating is also not very easy to do since it requires the confidence to run your system on live accounts and to weather the profit and draw down cycles trusting your expectancy analysis to be right.

My advice for you is therefore extremely simple. If you want to be successful in automated trading, follow the above three rules and I can guarantee that you will - at least- get to the point where I am today :o). Introducing Variety A New Blogging Project ~ forex trading laptop

0

Today we are going to go a little bit away from the usual articles about currency trading so I apologize to my regular audience if you were expecting the usual - hopefully well written - article dealing with forex automated trading or other revelant aspects of the forex market. However today and tomorrow I am going to be talking to you about some interesting developments that have happened within the last month (dont worry, tomorrow it will be about automated trading), which have prompted me to make some new projects to improve the way in which things are evolving.

This post will be dealing with a new project I came up with which has absolutely nothing to do with automated trading or forex for that matter. This new project started as a need for variety as I felt my life and projects were being limited by my work as a currency trader. Certainly being a day trader is fun and automated forex trading is an amazingly complex and wonderful field but in addition to developing systems, investments, asirikuy and this blog I needed to do something else which stimulated other areas of my - now heavily left hemisphere oriented - brain.
--
What did I come up with ? Well, since I love helping people and I do feel I have substantial knowledge in other fields which I developed within my quest for profitability in trading and my studies as a scientist, I decided to start a new blog about just whatever I could think off that I could write to help people improve their lives. This new blog called "Entirely For You" (you can always access it directly at http://www.entirely4you.com) is my attempt to show people another side of me which will have- hopefully - a lot of practical and theoretical knowledge to help people in their everyday lives. (for those of you who have read my blog for a while- yes- I did have a name in Quechua :o) but it was already taken !)

My objectives with this blog are clearly not financial but only recreational in the sense that I love writting and writting about other things besides automated trading is a way to "ease my workload" and prevent a burn out which would have certainly happened in a few months or years ifI had continued this excessive focus on automated trading systems. Sure, I will continue to post daily here and do all the weekly work as usual but my new blog will provide me with some relief when I feel like writting about something else and hopefully it will also give people a good deal of information derived from the little but applied wisdom that I have acquired through my life.

Of course this blog also means that you will get to know me better as a person, something which I think is vital when you need to develop trust in someone else, you will learn about my opinions relevant to other subjects and definitely some other aspects of my personality. This not only means that you will know that I am definitely a flesh and bone human being but that I have absolutely nothing to hide from you and that everything I do in my life is approached from the most ethical, honest and proffesional way I can :o). So I hope you enjoy this new website and you visit it often ! (update frequency will vary but probably I will post once or twice a week) Please leave any comments or opinions you may have ! :o)

On a side note, there is also another surprise for you related with automated trading which will be released tomorrow (hint : notice that new orange box at the bottom of the page ?)

If you would also like to learn more about my work in automated trading please consider buying my ebook on automated trading or joining Asirikuy to receive all ebook purchase benefits, weekly updates, check the live accounts I am running with several expert advisors and get in the road towards long term success in the forex market using automated trading systems. I hope you enjoyed the article !

Forex Expert Advisors Forex Maximizer an Unbiased Review ~ forex trading license

0

Today I will be revieweing one of the new trading systems which has been released over the past few weeks. This trading system - called Forex Maximizer - promises you will be earning an income every month in no time, with consistent results that will "not make you a millionaire" but will allow you to "quit the search for a new 9 to 5 job". As always I will analyze the evidence provided by the author and I will see if they are truly able to backup the claims made on the website. By analyzing the evidence I will also be able to tell you the soundness of the trading systems tactics and whether or not the system has a high like hood of being long term profitable. In the end I will give you my fully unbiased opinion of whether or not this trading system is worth buying and testing.

The Forex Maximizer website starts with the usual marketing hype that we have come to love so much. It talks about the mighty and mystical gurus that dont want you to know their "secret" to profit from the forex market. What particularly bothers me are the statements that follow this guru talk which are just bluntly misleading and which are simply marketing phrases pointed to make people believe that "getting profit in forex is easy", "even if youve never traded", etc. Then the author goes on and on about how most forex robots "suck" and will lose your money but his trading system - which is not a scalper - will have you banking up consistent profits in no time.

However, when it comes to backing up his claims of consistent profitability and actual real earning capabilities this author simply fails bluntly. What we have as evidence of profitability is simply some hand-picked screenshots of trades -which could as well be made by hand- and some pieces of backtesting results and a screenshot of the strategy tester resuts of a one year backtesting statement. We dont have even access to the backtesting statement or the simulations results to adequately know how the simulation turned out.

Why are simulation results limited to only 2009 ? Why arent 10 year results included ? Why isnt the backtesting statement shown ? These things are all supicious because showing more evidence only makes up a stronger case for the seller and the absence of evidence usually points out that this is simply not the case. Additionally, backtesting statements from commercial EA sellers CANNOT BE TRUSTED because there are simply almost infinite ways in which these results can be manipulated to produce profitable results.

In the end, the maximizer trading system has absolutely no proof of profitability with some very limited backtesting results being the only piece of available evidence, since the backtest is not validated this information is also pretty much useless. There are absolutely NO third party investor-access verified live testing accounts needed to proof the systems profitability and to show actual back/live testing consistency. Why in the world would this guy refuse to show us his statements if his system was so profitable ? Even more, why doesnt he show us his statements if he has - as he says- been trading the system for a while ? It is absolutely amazing that someone with so little proof of profitability is even willing to try to sell a system as if it was profitable.

The fact that there is a willingness to hide evidence shown as an absence of backtesting statements and 10 year backtests and the fact that there is simply no third party investor-access verified live account to backup any claims of profitability and validate the backtests shown tell us that the Forex Maximizer system is simply NOT worth buying and testing. If the seller puts up 10 year backtests and shows a 6 month investor-access verified live test with at least 50 trades (and a backtest of the same live testing period) I will redo this review to include the new evidence. Meanwhile, this trading system is nothing but a part of the usually over-hyped trading systems with little -if actually any- evidence of profitability.

Trade Asirikuy Systems Risk Free The New Challenge Account Restoration Fund ~ forex trading jobs in kenya

0

Today you will be witnessing one of the most important decisions I have taken within Asirikuy history. Several months ago I decided to create a fund called the micro-account stimulation project (MASP) which had as an objective the donation of 100 USD to a random Asirikuy member every month so that the selected member could create a challenge account and trade an Asirikuy system of my choice within it. The selected member would be given the 100 USD with the mere condition of running the EA on a VPS for two years and allowing me to monitor the account within Asirikuy. I was full of hope with this project and I hoped it will encourage people to open up mini accounts to try out Asirikuy systems and truly commit to their trading. However I was wrong about this. Today I will talk to you about the fate of this MASP fund and what will now be done with the money I have been putting aside for this project.

So what happened with the MASP ? People simply were not interested in my offer. During the past 5 months I have been contacting random Asirikuy members every month to tell them that they "won the prize" and would be given a free 100 USD from me to start their own micro account to trade an Asirikuy system. However the few who answered never really created the account or emailed me the details and the truth is that most members didnt even bother to contact me back. I also informed them they had won on the newsletters, the forum, etc and almost all the time I simply did not receive any reply.

I think that the reasons for this may have been several. Perhaps people are reluctant to receive money from a stranger (could be ?), perhaps they didnt want to open an account with any broker offering mini cent accounts, they didnt have a VPS or perhaps the price of the funding for the broker they wanted was too high. For whatever reason, the truth is that my very well intended Micro Account Stimuation Project failed and I now have 500 USD saved which clearly had a purpose they no longer have.

The solution ? I will now be changing the MASP to a project called the Challenge Account Restoration Fund. From now on I will be adding 100 USD to this fund every month (plus the 500 USD currently there) and the collected money will be used to restore the account of a challenger who reaches worst-case scenario levels within his or her account. Every system and every portfolio has a worst-case projected level and if this level is reached, I will send the owner of the account money from the Challenge Account Restoration Fund to replace their lost capital. Of course, the funds capacity is limited and it will cover older accounts and accounts with less initial trading capital with a higher priority. Up until now no account in Asirikuy has reached a worst case scenario but all current challengers can now be assured that if they reach such a case, there will be some insurance waiting for them :o).

The idea of this project is to provide challengers with some degree of compensation for the risk they are taking and to spend this money I was already looking forward to donate to Asirikuy members in a more efficient manner. This effectively means that people can now participate with cent accounts in Asirikuy in a Risk-free manner since the fund will obviously be able to cover the 30-60% worst-case scenario for small 100-200 USD accounts. As you see, I do this because I truly believe in my systems and I believe that a worst-case scenario for them is unlikely - although possible - and I want people to have some benefit when they take a risk with any new Asirikuy EA.

So now I can say that I am doing something no person involved in trading has ever done - to the best of my knowledge- I will be returning money lost by traders who use my systems if they reach certain draw down levels (provided they are Asirikuy challengers). I hope this encourages many traders to join Asirikuy and possibly some Asirikuy members to join with challenge account in this quest towards long term profitability :o).

Whats it like to spend a day with Richard Jaycobs President of Cantor Exchange ~ forex trading new york

0

Yesterday, I had a great day! My local traders meetup group was having a little meeting at my house and we had a fantastic guest speaker. Richard Jaycobs, president of Cantor Exchange and one of the veterans of the markets spent all day with me and stayed over to talk with traders from all over the Knoxville Tennessee area. Here is how it all went down...

First of all, Richard has an extensive history with the markets. He worked along side Paul Tudor Jones, one of the wall street legends. He founded the first internet based futures exchanges. He worked for the New York Cotton exchange and was a managing director at Finex, among other things. He is currently the president of Cantor Exchange, a wholly owned subsidiary of the financial services firm, Cantor Fitgerald.

Here is a picture of Richard, myself, and my son in his underwear.
Rich Jaycobs

One of the things I was most impressed with was the generosity of Cantor Exchange. They are out to work with all kinds of trading related businesses. When a trading exchange sends the president to your house to ask YOU how they can serve you, then this is an amazing thing.  So why did he come to my house?

I had recently met Richard and Rod Drown (managing director at Cantor Exchange) at a traders conference. I approached Rod and the very first words that came out of my mouth were, " If you can do what you say you can do, then I can bring 1,000 traders your way." Now at the time, I had no clue how fast the Cantor Exchange brand would spread through word of mouth alone but I was bound and determined to find out more.

So I started messing with trades on the exchange and researching and found out that these guys are sitting on a goldmine of awesomeness for the retail trader. Some of the ways you can trade on the exchange just blew me away! I was hooked, as are many other traders so I sat down and wrote out a 40+ page document on my thoughts about the exchange and how I saw it from an outsider. Yep, forty flipping pages! Click and away it went to the execs at CX. (By the way CX stands for Cantor Exchange).

So long story short, I had a series of talks with Rod and he asked me if it was ok if Richard Jaycobs flew down to see me for the day. I politely said, " Of course it is ok. I would be happy to talk with him." Inside, I was like a kid in a candy store because I actually caught the attention of someone that wanted to hear my ideas.

So the day came. (Actually that day was yesterday July 13, 2015). Richard arrived promptly on time and we sat at my kitchen table and talked back and forth for 5 straight hours. We went through my ideas list one by one. If I thought something at the exchange was bunk, I let him know. If he thought one of my ideas was garbage, he let me know. We disagreed on a few things and agreed on a whole lot of things.

When we were tired from sitting, we would walk into my trading office and look at charts. I had told him about designing an indicator for trading on the exchange and he wanted to see it. We took a couple of short breaks and then went right back at it. Idea after idea. Line by line. Taking notes and crossing things off. I even got to interview Richard for a Youtube special coming up soon.

One of the most amazing things is the fact that Cantor Exchange wants to work with traders. They are not stuck up and have their nose in the clouds like several other exchanges. I remember calling and emailing a competitor exchange about an idea I had that would have been great and never once received a reply of any sort. Point Blank, Cantor Exchange is willing to talk with the little man.

So anyway, getting back to my story... after hours and hours of talking, the doorbell rang. Lo and behold, it was a member of one of my facebook groups. This guy, Steve Cole AKA Ole Dude as decribed by his high school students, is just about as country as they come. His accent is about as thick as molassas on a winter night. Now Steve was interested in the exchange and Richard talked right along with him and took his ideas as well... By the way, I just found out that Steve is now a Cantor Exchange trader, as of today. I assume he liked what he heard last night.

The doorbell rang again and here they came one after another, trader after trader filled my house with smiles and laughs. Not one of them had on a suit and tie... This is Tennessee by the way.

Then the vittles were on the table and everybody had plate. Boy, was it good. The smell of the food filled the house until after I lit the burners to keep the food warm and the house started to smell like a gas factory for a few minutes. We had pork BBQ, Rotisserie chicken, Mashed taters, Brown beans, Corn salad, Green bean casarole, Cheesecake bites, fudge, Cornbread muffins, and rolls. This was a feast for an old southern boy such as myself.

As all the traders were eating and sitting wherever they could find a spot, the speaking part came and I stood up and tried to talk but everyone was so engaged in their conversations that no one even heard what I was saying Haha! So I gave them a few more minutes to chow down and then I, along with Richard attempted to explain the basics of the exchange and answer questions, mostly coming from Troy.

Now Troy is a friend of mine that works for Ninjacators so obviously he overtook the entire line of questioning almost and started firing off. One right after another the questions came. I answered a few but Richard answered most of them. Now Troy was creating some pretty powerful questions that would have made me feel a bit humbled but Richard just fired back the answer as easy as you could think and answered each and every question that was asked.

Look at the picture above. Richard is showing everyone how to play an air guitar. Just kidding, he is actually answering questions.

All in all, here is the deal. The Cantor Exchange has plans so great that I am so excited to be a part of it all. They want to create a trading experience that is the absolute best possible. They want to allow everyone access to the exchange in ways that are so simple that anyone would understand. They want to create products that traders want. Best of all, they want to hear ideas from you. If you have an idea that would make the exchange a better place to trade, let them know.

For more information about Cantor Exchange, or if you would like to get updates and talk with others about the exchange, please visit facebook.com/groups/cantorexchange or if you would like to sign up for a trading account, visit forestparkbx.com . Forest Park BX is a referring partner to the exchange, can get you set up with an account and answer questions along the way.

So whats all the fuss about? What makes Cantor Exchange so awesome?? You just stay tuned, join the facebook group and watch this thing unfold. You will be blown away soon! Below is a small sample of things to come...

1. Write your own binary options contracts at ANY strike you want
2. No minimum deposit
3.  All contracts are only $1 allowing smaller traders to participate in the market

Now many of the most awesome things, I can not mention at this time but you just wait!

Revieweing Thrust VPS a New Cheap and Reliable Option for EA Hosting ~ forex trading ea

0

The subject of Virtual Private server hosting is a very sensitive one that affects all traders who want to use automated trading systems. Although it is possible to build a "home VPS" by setting up a raid backup server, a secondary internet connection and a large UPS this is not practical for most people and renting the service from a provider located within a data center seems like the best idea. Amongst the realms of shared VPS servers - where a single computer is shared as a host between different servers - Thrust VPS comes out as a new, fresh and reliable service that can be used by forex traders to host their metatrader 4 platforms.

There are several problems that usually happen with Virtual Private Servers that make people very reluctant to use one or another service provider. The most common complaint of traders about their VPS servers are unscheduled reboots (usually done for updates) problems accessing their platform through remote desktop and the lack of responsiveness of some support teams. I would have to say that many of these problems occur from time to time will all VPS providers and unless you are using a dedicated VPS (which is bound to be much more expensive) then you will have to deal with this if you want to have a VPS. (note however that using auto-login solutions and adequate security settings removes about 99% of these problems).

A few weeks ago I decided to try a new VPS solution in the market -called ThrustVPS - after hearing some good comments from fellow traders about their reliability, the speed of their servers and the great price. This company offers simple Windows 2008 VPS setups from 14.95 USD a month with 1GB of RAM, 30GB of disk space and 1TB of bandwidth each month. Compared to other VPS providers the amount of RAM is good but the amount of disk space and bandwidth seems rather limited, although much more than adequate for the needs of a regular metatrader 4 user.
-
-
The payment process, setup and initial configuration of the server was quite easy and fast with everything ready within almost less than 1 business day. The server response is fast and the lag towards IBFX, FXDD and Alpari UK servers is low (5-10 ms) (of course, since the server is located in the US the lag towards Alpari UK is higher). The amount of RAM promised is available for use and the load on the VPSs processor seems to be very low at almost all times. Up until now I have not experienced any reboots or any other unusual behavior that may intervene with the Metatrader 4 platforms I have loaded within it.

However you should bear in mind that ThrustVPS is a young company and VPS providers are generally very good in the beginning before they start to get a lot of customers and start to behave in a greedy way. As a company grows and more clients appear they may resort to piling up more VPS on a single computer instead of buying more hardware something that reflects in an overall reduction in performance for some users. Definitely in the beginning almost all VPS providers are this good but time will tell if they are going to keep this level of performance or if they will just start to fill their current computers with more and more VPS servers without any hardware upgrades.

However right now ThrustVPS seems like a very reliable, cheap and fresh option for people looking for a new hosting provider for their Metatrader 4 platforms. This VPS company provides us with a cheap basic VPS plan with enough RAM and disk space to load several Metatrader 4 platforms with a very fast internet connection and a reduced lag to US forex brokers. Bitcoin prices up and down in February (updated) ~ forex trading platform for mac

0

Bitcoin prices up and down in February 2016 - it can not be denied again, ahead of the Chinese New Years feast bitcoin price decreases and increases according to my own very nice. where traders get much profite for it. since the new year 2016 is indeed btcoin tend to be more down than up and was utilized by traders to store more bitcoin.

in an article I read in coindesk. in the middle of this year predicted that bitcoin will be increased to $ 630, so most traders that I know just playing short-trade just as a precaution if the bitcoin prices will actually rise as in the predicted.

from the end of January bitcoin price down to $ 360 per 1 bitcoin and climbed back to $ 400 per 1 bitcoin. and it makes the trade highly satisfied. to enter this month of February bitcoin prices still tend to be up and down. so if youve made the right decision to sell and buy.

have you get the profit from the sell / buy? if you get profite survivors and see if prices bitcoin will rise later back as in 2015.

My Currency Trader Magazine June Article Check it Out ! ~ forex trading jobs in london

0

As many of you may already know - if you have been following my blog for a while - I have become a somewhat "regular" contributor to Currency Trader Magazine, one of the most well-known and respected magazines published in the area of forex trading. Besides featuring very famous and well-respected authors such as Barbara Rockefeller, the magazine tries to give people quality articles about both fundamental and technical aspects of currency trading. I have to say that Currency Trader Magazine had become a monthly "must-read" for me before I started writing in it, with its articles being very good to catch both a birds eye view and a practical perspective over current market conditions but being an author now gives me the opportunity to humbly contribute to this great monthly magazine. On todays post I want to talk to you a little bit about my June article and how I think it provides very valuable information about market inefficiencies and the way in which they evolve over time. You can download the June edition of the Magazine -containing my article- for free here(if it is already August and youre reading this then you will have to purchase the issue separately).

The article I wrote for the June issue attempts to address a significant question I had been asking myself for a while. Is the market so inefficient that the movements within trading sessions are predictable ? I wanted to take a look at the Asian session in particular and answer this interesting question regarding whether or not we could look at this session for a period of 4 years and predict the future magnitude of absolute movement and the range within this trading session. Would it be possible that the market moves in a predictable way during this period of low volatility ? I started to do some research to find out.

In the article I go through an analysis of the Assian sessions range and absolute movement within the past 4 years on the EUR/USD, EUR/GBP and EUR/CHF attempting to find a "pattern" of evolution that could signal the existence or absence of a "predictable movement" within this session. Of course, part of this research was inspired in the fact that many commercial system sellers have attempted to exploit inefficiencies around this session that have worked for a while and have then become obsolete. I have always thought that there is some predictability around the Asian session but attempting to exploit it without any adaptability is simply a behavior prone to eventually fail (you really wonder how many of those sellers are really traders).

The results I found were - for me - absolutely breath taking. The analysis of absolute movement values for the three different pairs revealed nothing spectacular, showing that the ranges evolve widely as the market changed. Effectively this proves why Asian session scalpers are doomed to fail, the character of the session changes tremendously with time and exploiting it using such systems in the long term is not going to work. However I then took a different look at the picture and evaluated the range and absolute movements differently - taking certain additional market elements into account- obtaining a wonderful result. As a matter of fact, what I found confirms what I have suspected for a long time.

Not only are the Asian session conditions predictable, but they are almost the SAME for the EUR/USD, EUR/GBP and EUR/CHF. This means that my article found a key part of fundamental market behavior, a characteristic of the market that appears to remain unchanged as time goes by. Of course, the details of this analysis cannot be revealed here (you need to go ahead and read the article ! :o) ) but you will see that my analysis shows clearly that the Asian session is technically inefficient and that creating systems to exploit this inefficiency is indeed possible. During the next few months I will be working on the creation of several different mechanical trading systems to use this research to show that effectively the behavior within the Asian session lends itself to mechanical exploitation.

I hope you have read and enjoyed this post and my June article. Please leave any comments, questions or suggestions you may have :o). Introducing Our New and Exclusive Profit and Draw Down Asirikuy Analysis Tool o ~ forex trading journal software

0

If you have read my posts during the past few months you will notice that I have become increasingly interested in the analysis of trading portfolios and the effect of trading several different systems together. After I was able to implement a solution that made the balance of Asirikuy experts independent it became possible to trade systems without their balance calculation becoming dependant on the other systems trades, something which in turn opened the door towards the merging of backtesting results to accurately evaluate joint performance of the different trading systems. Up until now all this analysis had been made through the use of SQL scripts and VBA macros which were implemented by several Asirikuy members. Thanks to their effort we were able to do accurate calculations on the draw down and profit characteristics of portfolios. However it became evident that these solutions to portfolio analysis were not very comfortable needing backtesting statement manual reorganization in excel followed by loading into an SQL server and then loading onto a separate excel spreadsheet to run VBA macros. For this reason we decided to start a project with an Asirikuy member (named Gábor) who offered some of his free time to do all the coding of this new draw down/profit analysis program. On todays post I have the pleasure to introduce this little Asirikuy-exclusive utility, our own profit and draw down analysis tool :o).
-
-
What is so great about this program, what does it do ? The program has many virtues that make it exceedingly good for backtesting statement analysis. The application allows us to load one or a series of backtesting statements joining them together automatically and calculating a series of very important characteristics which are not calculated on the metatrader backtester (not even the MT5 backtester). The program automatically calculates draw down periods, their length, their depth, yearly profits and monthly profits. Having all this information "a click away" is extremely important since it will allow us to do very fast Asirikuy portfolio analysis without having to through the cumbersome process needed to use SQL scripts for this purpose.
--
The image above shows you one of the main characteristics of this software, displaying the equity curve for the loaded backtests (in this case three) plus the addition of their results to show you the "portfolio equity curve". This instant snapshot of the equity curve is important since it allows you to see which systems were losers and which ones winners through the testing period you are evaluating. This in turn allows you to gauge the contributions to the maximum draw down and the overall risk level of the different systems, letting you know which system causes the most loses or profits.
-
-
The above picture shows you perhaps the most useful feature of the software, the ability to display draw down period lengths and depth of a given portfolio with great easyness. This allows you to know the average extent of draw down periods and how long you would have to be prepared to wait if you want to use a given trading strategy. It gives an overall realistic picture of a systems trading characteristics showing you why it is evidently hard to trade and what you should be looking forward to regarding eventual loses and losing periods. This draw down period analysis has become a very important part of system analysis within Asirikuy, letting us evaluate accurately worst-case scenarios and largest draw down period lengths.

Besides the features I have commented here, the software also has the ability to display monthly and yearly profits, important characteristics that are useful for determining the overall trading character of a given system. How profitable is the average month ? How many months are winners vs how many are losers ? What is the average yearly profit ? All these questions are answered by our new Asirikuy tool and its ability to dissect trading results into yearly and monthly statistics.

As time evolves we will be able to implement new features and correct bugs that may appear but currenlty this new profit and draw down analysis tool is a very nifty and welcome addition to Asirikuy. From later today, Asirikuy members will be able to download this piece of software from the Experts section of the website. If you would like to learn more about my journey in automated trading and how you too can start to design your own long term profitable systems based on sound trading tactics please consider buying my ebook on automated trading or joining Asirikuy to receive all ebook purchase benefits, weekly updates, check the live accounts I am running with several expert advisors and get in the road towards long term success in the forex market using automated trading systems. Alternative Adaptive Criteria Introducing a New Feature of Teyacanani ~ forex trading jobs in uae

0

One of the main problems Teyacanani has faced from the moment of its release is the use of a daily ATR indicator with small period values (3 to 6) which are extremely sensitive to the presence or absence of Sunday candles within the brokers feed. The fact that these periods are small makes the presence of these candles extremely influential, something that doesnt happen with the turtle system or Watukushay No.2 which use much longer ATR period lengths (14-20). In order to solve this problem we have implemented an EA that generates an offline chart without Sunday candles but this system does not work on some brokers for reasons pertinent to each brokers particular software implementation. On todays post I want to introduce a new solution to this Teyacanani problem showing you a new type of adaptation that uses the ATR indicator but does not rely on daily indicator data, effectively eliminating the problem of Sunday candles for this EA on brokers where our non-Sunday solution does not work.

What is exactly the problem with Sunday candles ? When you calculate the value of a daily ATR indicator, the code calculates the value of the ATR assigning the same weight to the values of all daily candles. On brokers where Sunday candles exist these candles are treated - within the calculation of the ATR - as if they were regular daily candles when they usually have only 10-20% of the regular volume of a complete weekday. When you calculate the value of the daily ATR for a small number of periods you will often get a very significantly smaller value for the indicator when compared with an indicator where no Sunday candles are involved.

Many people - me included - will think here that the best and easiest solution would be simply to decrease the values of the filters on the EA to compensate for a "lower overall" ATR value. However the main issue here is that no accurate 10 year backtesting data with Sunday candles is available to test the strategy and this therefore makes any modification done impossible to evaluate with metatrader 4. Possibly diminishing the value of all filters might work, but there is also a very important possibility that this will simply not work as - when low ATR periods are used - you might get days where the ATR is calculated without the Sunday candle. For example, a 4 period daily ATR on Friday only counts Friday, Thursday, Wednesday and Tuesday, leaving outside Monday and Sunday. Introducing a modification that decreases all overall ATR related variables will probably have an adverse effect on these days.

What is the solution then ? The easiest thing to do here was to find a way of removing the Sunday candles from the chart, merging Monday and Sunday candles to get a "clean feed" that simulates that of a broker without Sunday candles. Using an EA called "without Sunday", available from the mql4 code database, we were able to eliminate the problem for most brokers. However, due to limiations inherent to some other brokers - particularly Forex.com - this solution wasnt able to work correctly in some cases.

My solution for this case was to find another adaptive criteria that could avoid the usage of the daily ATR indicator. I thought that if you could simply take a lower time frame and "extrapolate" you could maybe obtain the same results as you would with the regular daily-ATR solution. So my implementation was therefore really simple. Take a given hourly-ATR period indicator and then multiply it by X so that you reach a magnitude similar to that of the daily ATR indicator. You would still get evolving adaptability as market conditions change but of course, the speed and character of the adaptation would change.
-
-
In the end I found the results showed above for the EUR/USD and GBP/USD currency pairs using Teyacanani (Jan-2000, Jan-2010). The trading results - after following the same optimization procedure as with the original Teyacanani version - were very similar to those obtained with the daily-ATR solution, showing that a given hourly-ATR could in fact extrapolate to a daily-ATR without great changes in the effectiveness of the adaptation against volatility. However it is clearly notable here that this approach does not tend to work for all currency pairs. Some instruments like the NZD/USD and AUD/USD tend to have larger and more changing hourly volatilities that do not provide an adequate reflection when extrapolated towards daily volatility. The results obtained for these currency pairs are therefore poorer than when using the regular Teyacanani EA.

In the end, what this exercise has taught me - and I hope I have transmitted to you within this article - is that volatility adaptation can be carried out successfuly through many levels and that alternatives to daily-ATR based adaptation are clearly possible but may prove to be different for instruments with different characteristics. Right now this new version of Teyancanani - now available within Asirikuy - provides users of brokers that could not implement the WithoutSunday solution with a version of Teyacanani that can run on the EUR/USD and GBP/USD with similar profit and draw down targets. Volatility adaptation has always been one of my great areas of interest in automated trading and hopefully within the next few months and years I will be able to develop some robust and creative adaptive criteria :o).

Being Close Minded and Being Cautious Two Very Different Things ~ forex trading earning potential

0

I consider myself an investor in the sense that I do not take decisions regarding my trading very lightly, every time I decide to run a system on one of my personal or managed accounts I always take as many steps as possible to ensure that capital preservation and low risk will be the highest priorities. Of course, many people - especially those newer to the scene - view this as being "close minded" and having problems dealing and implementing new ideas. On todays post I want to write a few paragraphs about the difference between being close minded (which refers to being unable to embrace new ideas) and being cautious (taking care of ones capital and risk taking levels). In the end I hope that you will see how both of these things are completely different and how one does not necessarily imply the other.

So why do people view conservative traders as being "close minded" ? The answer to this questions is actually not that complex and goes into the way in which new and experienced traders view trading and how they differ in the way in which they approach their trading accounts and the way in which they trade this money. For new traders there seems to be an urge to gain high returns with small amounts of money, something which is very understandable and aligns perfectly with all the hype and risk taking that can go on with small amounts of money. Since the amounts of money risked by new traders are usually small the sense that the potential reward is much higher than the potential risk is very important.

You will see that new traders will be very easily convinced to use any trading tactic that promises large returns, merely due to the fact that the balance of possible benefit and loss is heavily tilted towards the rewarding side. New traders are therefore much more likely to try new trading tactics which dont have proved long term profitability in order to face the potential and very tempting reward. On the other hand, experienced traders are very reluctant to trade anything that has yet not shown long term profitability because the stakes are - in most cases - much higher (in absolute money terms).

Experienced traders also have an advantage here regarding the number of systems they have seen in the past and which ones they have seen succeed and fail as the years have gone by. Most professional traders will know that certain systems are - by experience - very bad ideas while others are more sound approaches. The answer of new traders to this argument is generally that the fact that no one has done it doesnt mean it cannot be done, which is a valid, yet dangerous argument.
-
-
Professional traders are more focused in the long term ability of their systems to succeed while new traders are more comfortable in using new systems which have a very high probability of failing. In the end it is not that professional traders are unable to embrace new ideas, it is simply that they require these ideas to be put to the test rigorously since every time they have been used they have shown to fail in the long term. This is analogous to the people who attempt to build perpetual motions machines, which would violate the laws of thermodynamics. Since these laws are based on vast amounts of observational data for which an exception to the rules has never been found, there must be an overwhelming and convincing amount of experimental evidence to disprove any of them. In the end the people who do not attempt to build perpetual motion machines are not "close minded" they just know that the laws of thermodynamics work on all the observations of our universe that have been made and therefore such an endeavor is most likely a waste of time.

In trading things work the same way. Conservative traders do not develop martingales and scalpers with very bad risk to reward ratios because they know that these systems have always failed in the long term, even if there is no absolute proof saying that a very profitable scalper or martingale cannot be made, professionals know that this is most likely a complete waste of time since from a very large amount of attempts, none have succeeded. It is not that conservative traders are "close minded" since they will eagerly test new ideas which have not proved to fail so dramatically during the past, it is merely that they are being careful and applying the experience most traders have had in order to trade only systems that can reward them in the long term.

So in the end it is not a matter of traders being "close minded" when they do not embrace ideas that seem to put extreme amounts of risk on equity, it is merely that these same ideas have already shown to fail time and time again in the past. It is therefore not a matter of being "close minded" but a matter of being cautious aiming to put your money in the hands of trading systems that are likely going to work for you in the long term. Where would you rather put your money, in a new company that promises you 100% returns each month (knowing that all of these companies in the past have turned out to be ponzies) or into an investment fund that has given its customers an average 15% compounded yearly profit during the past twenty years ? The same applies to choosing trading systems for your forex account.

If you would like to learn more about how you too can build and design your own trading systems with sound trading tactics that are likely to work in the long term please consider joining Asirikuy.com, a website filled with educational videos, trading systems, development and a sound, honest and transparent approach automated trading in general . Talking About My Ebook What the Future Holds ~ forex trading income tax

0

A few weeks ago I gave my almost one year old ebook a new read-through to check the validity and relevance of its content and to see if there were any improvements I could do. After reading the ebook and looking at how my vision through last year has evolved I realized that many changes and additions are due. Although the contents of the ebook right now are very valid and do point traders in the right direction in automated trading I feel that a lot of depth - particularly pertaining to system design - is currently missing from its contents. Of course, there is also the fact that the ebook is missing the last 2 experts from the Watukushay series, something that also must be added if the ebook is bound to keep up with this - seemingly ever-evolving - project. On todays post I want to talk to you about the ebooks future, the changes that will happen within the next few months and what I expect from all this evolution.

The first thing that will be certain is that the ebook will no longer be offered by itself. Through the past few months I have been giving this a lot of thought and I believe that the ebook does a better job at helping traders as part of the overall Asirikuy package. So from the next update, the ebook will be only available within Asirikuy. Of course, previous ebook customers will keep on getting the update but the option to buy the ebook by itself will completely disappear from this website. I believe that this is the way to go since it will allow people to have a "full view" of everything and to get a complete education in automated trading. I hope I will be able to create much more synergy between the ebooks contents and Asirikuy within the next release.

Regarding the contents, I believe that the current version leaves a lot of spaces open that need to be addressed. I reviewed the ebook with a friend who has some basic knowledge regarding automated trading and forex in general and he was a little bit overwhelmed by the amount of content and the ideas within some sections which required a good amount of time to assimilate. It took him a lot of time to follow many of the tutorials but -in the end- he was able to reproduce the Watukushay experts and their analysis on his own. I believe that a lot can be done to improve the teaching of coding within the ebook and a lot of emphasis in initial system development is also missing.

Perhaps one of the most important additions I plan to do is a whole section on mathematical exepctancy analysis which will provide people with some tools and tutorials to guide them through the first - and often the most critical - parts of system development. I will try to teach how to device an initial trading logic and an approach to trading, focusing on systematic building and the analysis of mathematical exepctancy using the EA I created for this purpose within Asirikuy. I think that with these and a few more changes, the ebook will be able to improve on its current state and better help traders achieve their goals to become long term profitable traders using automated trading systems.

I want the ebook to be the introductory and main piece of Asirikuy, a "tome of knowledge" so to speak, that gathers all my basic concepts in automated trading coupled with a lot of practical exercises, tutorials and guides to bring someone from "I dont have any idea" to "I have coded my first likely profitable trading system using my own ideas and analysis". Do you have any ideas about what the ebook should be ? Do you want to suggest any content additions ? reductions ? changes, etc ? What would you like to find in the ebook ? Please leave a comment :o)

It is difficult to say right now when this "major update" will be out, but probably I will be releasing it sometime before Aug 07. If you would like to learn more about the ebook and my journey in automated trading please consider buying my ebook on automated trading or joining Asirikuy to receive all ebook purchase benefits, weekly updates, check the live accounts I am running with several expert advisors and get in the road towards long term success in the forex market using automated trading systems. I hope you enjoyed the article !
